Disc Golf Course

42°05'27.91" N  75°57'53.72" W

Tucked away in the natural areas on campus is an 18-hole disc golf course. Constructed in 2013, the course combines the physical health benefits of active recreation with the mental health benefits of spending time in nature.

Disc golf, a sport recently codified in the 1970s, has a relatively low environmental impact. In contrast to other sports that require massive infrastructure and maintenance, the "holes" in disc golf are set up to work within the natural layout of the space.

For example, standing at the Hole 1 tee you can see how the fairway passes through forested sections in a natural area on the lower campus. The trees in this small forest are actually part of the of the game- it's a challenge trying to get your disc to the hole without hitting the trees and veering off course!

If you're feeling up to a longer hike, you can use this map, to see if you can find all 18 holes. Maybe next time it will make you want to bring along some discs and give it a try!
