Connector Road Small Pool
42° 4.987'N, 75° 58.108'W
This is the smallest pool on the hike. A roadside wetland area, this site typically dries up by early summer. Due to its location, of the three vernal pools it is potentially most impacted by the application of road deicing salts in the winter.
Herpetologists (people who study reptiles and amphibians) on campus have seen many adult amphibians here during early spring but rarely see eggs.
This vernal pool is easy to spot as, in contrast to the tall woody trees in the natural area adjacent to it, this wetland is dominated by cattails and sits a few steps away from the Connector road. Image Source: Google
